About the Minnesota Federated Humane Societies
Who we are
The Minnesota Federated Humane Societies investigates reports of cruelty to animals in Minnesota. We train, certify and appoint State Humane Agents. We work closely with law enforcement agencies, county attorneys, and state and federal agencies to investigate reports of animal cruelty and neglect in all 87 Minnesota counties.
The Minnesota Federated Humane Societies is a private, non-profit corporation, whose mission is:
- To Protect the welfare of Minnesota’s animals
- To Promote the humane treatment of animals by enforcement of our laws for the prevention of cruelty to animals
- To Improve animal welfare legislation
- To Assist in the organization and development of district and county humane societies in Minnesota
The Minnesota Federated Humane Societies is run by a non-profit board of volunteer Directors and its Administrator and General Counsel is Timothy J. Shields.
