January 2015: Sather, Anthony Ryan charged with felony cruelty to animals:The Criminal Complaint is as follows:
JULY 2013: July 30, 2013, MFHS attorney Timothy Shields, along with MFHS State Humane Agents and volunteers, removed all live animals and fish from Eagle Pet Center in Shakopee, Minnesota. Neither Eagle Pet Center nor its owner were paid by the MFHS for any animals, and no payment of any kind was made to Eagle Pet Center or its owner. The owner of Eagle Pet Center voluntarily surrendered the animals to the MFHS, and cooperated fully with the removal. The owner and operator of Eagle Pet Center has entered into a contractual agreement with the MFHS not to house or possess any live animals within the confines of Eagle Pet Center unless and until the store has been brought up to appropriate standards, and a pre-inspection and pre-approval is done by MFHS. Eagle Pet Center may continue to sell pet supplies as it has always done, just not live animals. The fish removed from the store, including a Pirana, have been taken to Aquatropics Aquarium Center in Crystal, MN. The rabbits, mice and rats have been taken to shelters of the Animal Humane Society for evaluation, and the bird will placed with a rescue organization shortly. We thank everyone for their support on this issue.
